How to find real traffic potential

  • Open the SERP overview in Ahrefs Keywords Explorer for your target keyword
  • Check the Traffic column for top-ranking pages — this reflects all organic traffic, not just from one keyword
  • Click the keyword count for any page to see every query it ranks for in Organic Keywords (Site Explorer)
  • Filter by top-3 positions to focus on traffic-driving rankings only
  • Compare the top-ranking pages themselves: depth and coverage directly affect how many related keywords a page ranks for

  • A shallow list page ranked #1; a detailed forum discussion ranked #2 — yet the #2 page got 3x more traffic
