Executive overview
Most teams stay stuck because they discuss symptoms instead of root causes. The Issues Solving Track gives any team a repeatable discipline to surface, prioritise, and permanently resolve issues.
Two tools: an issues list (smoke out every problem, then pick the top three) and IDS — Identify, Discuss, Solve.
The root issue is rarely the stated issue. Keep digging until you hit the nerve.
Building the issues list
- List every issue openly — problems, obstacles, opportunities, new ideas.
- Nothing is off limits; quantity doesn't matter.
- Prioritise the top three issues blocking organisational progress.
IDS: identify, discuss, solve
- Identify: dig to the root cause, not the surface symptom.
- Discuss: stay laser-focused on the real issue; no tangents.
- Every team member shares thoughts, concerns, and potential solutions once.
- Move to solve when discussion becomes redundant.
- Solve: agree on a resolution, or at minimum reach a decision everyone can live with.
- Create a seven-day to-do, assign an owner, add it to the team's list.
- A decision made is more important than the perfect decision.
