What Key Dates in February Does HR Need to Know?
Executive overview
HR teams must track several compliance deadlines in February or risk penalties. Four distinct obligations land across the month, each tied to a different regulatory body.
Missing any of these deadlines triggers fines or IRS non-compliance exposure.
February compliance deadlines
- February 1 — OSHA Form 300A must be posted in a visible area; remains posted through April 30. Required for businesses with 100+ employees.
- February 10 — Form 940 (annual FUTA tax return) due, provided FUTA taxes were deposited on time throughout the year.
- February 19 — President's Day federal holiday (third Monday of February).
- February 28 — ACA paper filers must submit Forms 1094B, 1095B, 1094C, and 1095C to the IRS.
ACA reporting forms explained
- 1095C: filed for individuals who received employer-sponsored health coverage.
- 1095B: filed for individuals covered through small self-funded groups, SHOP, or fully insured employer-sponsored plans.
- 1094B / 1094C: summary forms — one submission per employer, covering all corresponding 1095 forms.
March deadlines to prepare for
- March 1: employers must furnish 1094B and 1095C copies to recipients (mail or electronic).
- Additional deadlines apply for credible coverage disclosures and OSHA reporting.
