Six-step system to make 2026 your best year
Executive overview
Most people fail their goals because they lack clarity, not motivation. Without a clear direction, a daily system, and the right people around you, even hard work pulls you off course.
This six-step framework moves from vision to daily execution: define a North Star, audit your time, build daily systems, create leverage, curate your network, and measure with accountability.
The goal is not to do more — it's to do less of the wrong things and compound the right ones.
Step 1: Define the direction
- Write one big SMART goal — your vision for the year.
- Visualise it: set it as your phone and laptop wallpaper, print it on your bathroom mirror.
- List 12 power goals for the year aligned to that vision.
- Pick the one project with the biggest impact — the single unlock.
- Convert it into daily MINs (most important next steps).
- The 300% rule: 100% clarity + 100% belief, held 100% of the time.
Step 2: Audit where you are today
- Run a time and energy audit: log every 15 minutes for a week.
- Colour-code each block — green (energy), yellow (neutral), red (draining).
- Audit both professional and personal time, including weekends.
- Delete red tasks first — most can simply stop.
- Delegate what can't be deleted; consider a virtual assistant.
- Goal: fill your calendar with green, create space for your power goals.
Step 3: Create daily systems
- Plan the next day the night before; plan the week on Sunday evening.
- Identify three key tasks to move forward in the first 90 minutes of the morning.
- Use Pomodoro sprints: 25 minutes of focused work, 5-minute break, repeat.
- Listen to no-lyric EDM to sustain focus during sprints.
- Review your 12 power goals three times a day — morning, midday, evening.
- Ask at each review: does my calendar reflect my priorities?
- Say no to requests that don't align with committed priorities.
Step 4: Create leverage
The four C's of leverage (from Naval Ravikant):
- Code — use software, automation, and AI to do work for you.
- Content — build checklists, SOPs, and training videos so you never teach the same thing twice.
- Capital — use money to buy back your time at scale.
- Collaboration — lead people who support your goals.
Three leverage tactics for 2026:
- Automate: find one repetitive red-list task and automate it this week.
- Delegate: apply the 10/80/10 rule — you set the outcome (10%), someone or AI executes the middle (80%), you refine the output (10%).
- Duplicate: stack two compatible tasks (e.g., walking one-on-ones, reviewing Slack in the hot tub) — net extra time spent: zero.
Step 5: Network with intention
- Audit your circle — who pulls you forward, who holds you back.
- Build connections that match where you want to be, not where you are.
Four questions to assess each person in your life:
- Are they on a growth journey themselves?
- Would being compared to them make you proud?
- Would you trust them with someone you love?
- Do they amplify your energy or drain it?
- If it's not a "hell yes," it's a no.
- Set boundaries with family and long-standing friends who don't serve your goals — love from a distance is valid.
Step 6: Measure and stay accountable
- Pick one North Star metric for your goal and track it daily.
- Build a scorecard — AI can help design and maintain it.
- Get an accountability partner whose opinion you respect.
- Make a public commitment: state your goal, your deadline, and who holds you accountable.
- Stakes create follow-through — you'll do ten times more for someone else than for yourself.
