Pick a specific, concrete vision of what your business looks like when it's working. Write it down. Then identify the hires and systems needed to reach it.

The clearest vision is the one you'd choose if you could have your business any way you wanted.

How to find your vision

  • Your vision will change over time — that's fine; pick one, commit, execute, then pick the next

Executing from vision

  • Once the vision is clear, work backwards to the specific hires and systems required
  • Identify what has to be true operationally before the vision becomes possible
  • Expect a gap of months between deciding and arriving — that's normal
  • When you reach one vision, set the next (e.g. a million YouTube views as the next milestone)
