Key HR compliance deadlines for March 2025

Executive overview

March 2025 has five compliance deadlines HR teams must hit, plus one cultural touchpoint. Missing any of them risks regulatory penalties or gaps in employee notification.

Three of the five deadlines relate to ACA reporting — get the 1095 forms right or you'll face IRS exposure.

March compliance dates

1. March 1 — Distribute Medicare Part D Credible Coverage Notice to employees (within 60 days of plan year start for calendar-year plans).
2. March 2/3 — Employers with 100+ employees in high-hazard industries must electronically file OSHA Form 300A Summary (Sunday deadline shifts to Monday March 3). Form must remain posted through April 30.
3. March 3 — Furnish Forms 1095-B and 1095-C to employees. ALEs now only required to provide these upon employee request; must notify employees of that right. Mail to home address or send electronically with consent.
4. March 6 — Employee Appreciation Day (no regulatory requirement; use for bonuses, recognition events, or acknowledgements).
5. March 31 — Electronic filing deadline for Forms 1094-C and 1095-C with the IRS.

ACA form quick reference

• Form 1095-B — reports minimum essential coverage; issued by insurers or small non-ALE employers.
• Form 1095-C — required for ALEs; reports whether affordable coverage meeting ACA minimum value was offered to full-time employees, month by month.
• Form 1094-C — transmittal filed with IRS; confirms whether ALEs offered affordable minimum essential coverage.
• Verify all data before distributing to avoid compliance issues.
